Job Description

  • To set up and clear away the children’s play area

  • Facilitate the children’s activities during the drop-in session

  • To play with the children, read books and carry out other activities

  • To ensure that toys, books etc. are properly used and well looked after

  • To ensure that children play safely and stay in the play area

  • To communicate any behavioural issues etc. to the child’s mother/carer

  • To report any concerns, incidents or accidents to the Child Safeguarding Officer

  • To complete ad hoc tasks as required for the well running of drop-in.

Person Specification

  • Able to commit to volunteering for 3 hours a week Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays (Essential)

  • Knowledge or experience of working with children from 0-5 years (Essential)

  • Experience in facilitating and organising activities with children (Essential)

  • Be able to prepare educational activities for children age range 5-8 (Essential)

  • Able to communicate with children and parents (Essential)

  • Good time management skills and very reliable (Essential)

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team (Essential)

  • Caring, enthusiastic and fun (Essential)

  • An awareness of health and safety (Desirable)

  • First Aid Trained (Desirable)

  • A childcare qualification (or working towards one) (Desirable)
