On a bleak January evening, deep in Lockdown 3.0, we were on (another) zoom and despairing about the state of the world. We got onto the topic of the refugee crisis and asylum seekers as we had all volunteered teaching English to refugees with STAR (Student Action for Refugees) whilst at University. These conversation classes had been cancelled due to Covid-19 and we wondered how the refugees we had worked with were doing during the pandemic.

Even before the pandemic, refugees and asylum seekers lacked support and protection from the government. Trying to change this would take a lifetime of dedication, lobbying and protest, but we were keen to help the cause in whatever small way we could.

We therefore decided to sell t-shirts with our own, thought provoking design aimed to help spark positive conversations about refugees, asylum seekers and their rights. We will also be completing a 21 mile walk, the length of the channel, a perilous journey that over 8000 asylum seekers make each year.

All proceeds from our sales will go to Refugee Women Connect, to help them continue their life-changing work supporting women asylum seekers, refugees and survivors of trafficking.

Please help us make a difference to the lives of refugee women by purchasing a T-shirt today via this website - https://rwc.teemill.com - or if you'd prefer to donate directly please follow the instructions on this page.
