On International Women’s Day we hosted a special exhibition featuring a stunning collection of artwork and fashion pieces created by the women of Refugee Women Connect.

The artwork was a collaborative effort from more than 70 women who have participated in art workshops during our weekly drop-in sessions and our new Fashion Design and Sewing group.

These talented women have used their new found and pre-existing abilities to create beautiful garments, utilising fashion design and needlework as a platform for storytelling.

'Stories through stitching'
This exhibition is a collaborative effort from more than 70 women who have participated in art workshops during weekly drop-in sessions and a new Fashion Design and Sewing group at Refugee Women Connect. Amongst the group, 20 different languages are spoken with women representing 25 countries from around the world. From such a diverse group, it's evident that the artists share a common desire for respect, freedom, safety and new beginnings.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to:

  • The women involved in the project, for sharing their stories in such a beautiful way.
  • PH Holt Foundation for funding this project
  • Emma Case for taking the incredible photos of the women featured in the exhibition.
  • John Lewis for providing the mannequins
  • Space Liverpool for hosting us in their incredible venue!
