'Stories through stitching' On International Women’s Day we hosted a special exhibition featuring a stunning collection of artwork and fashion pieces created by the women of Refugee Women Connect. The artwork was a collaborative effort from more than 70 women who have participated in art workshops during our weekly drop-in sessions and our new Fashion Design and Sewing group. These talented women have used their new found and pre-existing abilities to create beautiful garments, utilising fashion design and needlework as a platform for storytelling. 'Stories through stitching'This exhibition is a collaborative effort from more than 70 women who have participated in art workshops during weekly drop-in sessions and a new Fashion Design and Sewing group at Refugee Women Connect. Amongst the group, 20 different languages are spoken with women representing 25 countries from around the world. From such a diverse group, it's evident that the artists share a common desire for respect, freedom, safety and new beginnings. We'd like to say a huge thank you to: The women involved in the project, for sharing their stories in such a beautiful way. PH Holt Foundation for funding this project Emma Case for taking the incredible photos of the women featured in the exhibition. John Lewis for providing the mannequins Space Liverpool for hosting us in their incredible venue! Manage Cookie Preferences
