We're on The Guilty Feminist!

We're delighted to announce that Refugee Women Connect has been featured on the award winning podcast, The Guilty Feminist!

Comfort Etim, our Policy and Advocacy Officer, spoke with the remarkable Deborah Frances White about Refugee Women Connect and our vital work supporting women who are seeking sanctuary in the UK.

The Guilty Feminist is a comedy and activism podcast, championing the stories and voices of people with lived experience in their fight for social justice. The podcast won Gold at the British Podcast Awards 2020, and has listeners all over the world.

In this episode, Comfort shares her own experiences of being brought to the UK under false pretences, seeking asylum, and how she became involved with Refugee Women Connect. For many refugee and asylum-seeking women, Refugee Women Connect offers an essential lifeline, providing practical and mental health support as well as the chance to build friendships and community with amazing women from all walks of life.

Comfort tells us about the tremendous power of sport to build community and empower women, and how her own love of football helped her to create Comfort Angels, the incredible and inclusive football team for women seeking sanctuary in the UK.
