28th June 2021

Among our many celebrations and activities for Refugee Week 2021, we were delighted to hold a Charity Pot Party in the flagship Lush store in Liverpool.

Lush is a brilliant supporter of many different charities and community organisations, championing human rights, animal welfare, and environmental protection. They raise money by donating the profits from their Charity Pot range of moisturisers, and for Refugee Week we were the lucky chosen charity for the Liverpool Lush branch!

Throughout the week, Refugee Women Connect staff and volunteers held a stall in the store, which helped us to raise awareness of our organisation and the work we do to support women refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of human trafficking. It was our first in-person fundraising activity since lockdown began, and we couldn’t have asked for a lovelier event! After lots of online fundraising over the last year, it was wonderful to chat to supporters face-to-face and get involved with our local community.

It was a brilliantly successful event, and over the course of the week we managed to raise an amazing £895.99 from the sale of the Lush Charity Pots.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Jonathan, Kai, and the whole team at the Lush Liverpool branch who made us feel so welcome. We’d also like to say thank you to our brilliant volunteers from the University of Liverpool – Abbie, Fejiro, Emily, Mollie, Abdulalah, Jess, and Sultan – for representing the charity so wonderfully throughout the week. And finally a big thank you to all the Lush customers who purchased a Charity Pot and helped support our organisation!
