At Refugee Women Connect, we help with housing issues and supporting women at risk of experiencing homelessness. We understand the profound mental impact housing instability has on the women.  This is why it is crucial that our dedicated team are able to address these concerns as soon as possible to reduce the stress and anxiety women face and prevent homeless from occurring.

Read about the support we were able to offer Sara** to ensure that she was able to leave an abusive relationship without becoming homeless.

Sara was abused by her husband everyday but she was worried about being homeless so decided to remain in the relationship. When she was referred to Refugee Women Connect and received information about the MVDAC (migrant victims of domestic abuse concession), Sara felt empowered to leave the relationship. RWC played an active role in referring her to organisations that provide specialist support to women who are victim of domestic abuse and legal help in applying for MVDAC. These referrals helped get funds for temporary accommodation while Sara was waiting for the decision on her MVDAC to come through from the Home Office. The application came back positive and Sara is now in a safe house  and no longer afraid of her now ex husband and becoming destitute.
