8th March 2021

International Women's Day 2021 is a great way to celebrate our staff and volunteers, and the amazing work they do to support our service users every day of the year. You can help us continue our vital work by signing up to be a regular giver, and donate whatever you can afford on a monthly basis. This helps us plan ahead and grow our organisation.

At Refugee Women Connect we have been working hard to ensure that our service users still have access to our services whilst also meeting the needs the pandemic has created.

We have adapted our drop-ins and instead have been running virtual drop-ins to share information and keep in touch as well as making regular phone calls to check in on our families.

We have been able to provide practical maternity support, have been making deliveries of food and isolation packs to vulnerable and isolated service users. These packs include cleaning products, hand sanitisers and personal hygiene products.

We have an incredible team of volunteers who have been helping to ensure we can keep up with service users needs by making welfare calls, teaching English and delivering asylum information over the phone each week.

During lockdown, the vast majority of women in our community (82%) told us that their mental health had worsened, so demand for our services remains very high, our team works very hard to provide the best help and support that we can. Within our Mental Health programme we are able to offer 1:1s, regular phone check-ins, wellbeing activities and mental health advocacy support.

Please consider signing up to be a monthly donor so we can continue supporting asylum seeking women in the North West.
