Last week the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman gave a speech in which she stated ‘fearing discrimination for being gay or a woman should not be enough to qualify for refugee protection’.

In response 246 human rights and refugee organisations have signed an open letter to the PM calling on him to affirm the UK’s commitment to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention and the commitments to the protection of the rights of LGBTQ+ people and women around the world. Refugee Women Connect are proud to be one of the signatories of this letter.
